Support goes to organizations serving thousands in a time of increased community needs

(Albuquerque, N.M.) – Today, the PNM Resources Foundation announced the final recipients of its Strategic Impact grants providing a total of $62,000 to seven nonprofits serving thousands of New Mexicans by addressing time-sensitive, diverse, and long-term needs resulting from the pandemic.  Many of the organizations are led by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).  The grants help solve current needs at economic development centers, provide access to telehealth services for the developmentally disabled, support for Asian-owned businesses, and fund COVID-19 response needs and more.

“The hope is that these grants give the jumpstart many of these nonprofits may need in order to serve more people struggling in New Mexico this year,” said Laurie Roach, PNM Resources Foundation director.

“Other grants throughout the year will focus on improving areas of importance in New Mexico that help move the state forward together, which include reducing carbon emissions, increasing access to affordable housing, increasing community safety, and reducing homelessness.”

The Strategic Impact grants will support the Albuquerque area, Northern NM, and statewide needs:

  1. South Valley and International District Economic Development Centers
  2. Abrazos Family Support Services
  3. Asian Business Collaborative
  4. Albuquerque Community Foundation
  5. Community Leadership Fund of the Santa Fe Community Foundation
  6. COVID-19 Response Fund of the Santa Fe Community Foundation
  7. All Together NM Fund

Additional nonprofit grant opportunities will be available in 2021, including another round of Strategic Impact grants later in the year.

The PNM Resources Foundation and PNM Corporate Giving together have awarded more than $15 million in the past five years to nonprofit organizations. Since 1983, the PNM Resources Foundation has helped improve the quality of life by supporting nonprofit organizations served by PNM. The PNM Resources Foundation is a separate, nonprofit, tax exempt corporation governed by a board of trustees comprised of PNM Resources employees.
