Interstates:
I-25 & University Ave, Mile Marker 1, Las Cruces La Calerita Construction, LLC (Contractor) will have the following closure in place. Traffic on University has been shifted to the south, with two lanes of traffic open eastbound and westbound.
Crews are working in the median (center area) of University Ave. between the northbound I-25 on-ramp and S. Triviz Drive.
The I-25 loop ramp is open to eastbound traffic on University Ave. and is the only way eastbound traffic can access northbound I-25. Westbound traffic on University Ave. will continue to access northbound I-25 from the ramp at the traffic signal.
PLANNED NIGHT WORK:
The southbound I-25 on- and off-ramp will be switched from temporary to permanent traffic signals. From 8 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 10 to about 2 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, one or both lanes on each ramp may be closed.
Access from University Ave to the southbound I-25 on-ramp is through the Triviz/University intersection and the new south roundabout. Detour signage is in place. Regular work hours are Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-5 p.m. although crews may work longer hours or on Saturdays as needed. Traffic control will remain in place 24/7. Lohman Ave over I-25, Mile Marker 3, Las Cruces
Mountain States Constructors, Inc. will be continuing a nighttime milling and paving project on Lohman Ave. over Interstate 25. The roadway improvement project on Lohman Avenue will span from S. Telshor Blvd. to Walton Blvd. Drivers can expect nighttime closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Ramps will be closed to traffic during paving, a detour will be in place. This roadwork is expected to take one week to complete.
I-25, Mile Marker 34 to 39, Rincon
Mountain States Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) has begun a roadway reconstruction project on I-25 north of Las Cruces. A detour crossover will be in place, all traffic will be shifted into the southbound lanes utilizing crossover detour and barrier wall separation. The Rincon, exit 35 northbound on and off ramps will be closed, southbound exit is open, follow detour signage. This closure is expected for the next three months. Hours of operation will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic control will remain in place 24/7.
I-10, Mile Marker 21 to 25, Lordsburg
AUI, Inc. (Contractor) is currently building the abutment for the west side of the new bridge. All traffic is currently shifted to the westbound lanes. The Exit 22 on ramp will be closed but Exit 22 off ramps will remain open, local traffic only. All oversized loads will need to utilize Exit 20, eastbound port of entry is open for all CMV traffic. Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic towards alternate routes. Animas St. will be unaffected and can be utilized in place of Main St. Daily hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic control will remain in place 24/7.
I-25, Business Loop, Socorro
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) along with the New Mexico State University (NMSU) will be conducting a coring operation along the Socorro business loop. Starting on Tuesday August 10, 2021, lane closure will be in place as needed for this project. Closure will be daily from 7:00 am until 3:30 pm, expected completion on Thursday, August 12.
US Roadways:
US 180, Mile Marker 114 to 115, Silver City
James Hamilton Construction Company (Contractor) will be continuing roadwork on US 180. Traffic can expect a lane closure on the eastbound and westbound lanes as well as shoulder work throughout the intersection on US 180 and 32nd Street. Contractor hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. This project is estimated to be completed by end of summer 2021.
US 70, Mile Marker 161 to 170, Las Cruces/San Augustine Pass
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be performing roadway repairs due to recent flooding on US 70 from milepost 161 to 170. Lane closures will be in place and speed limits will be reduced. Closures will be in place Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.
State Roadways:
NM 146 Mile Marker 13 to 17, Animas
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be performing roadway repairs on NM 146 from milepost 13 to 17. Speed limits will be reduced. Traffic will encounter a flagging operation Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.
NM 273 Mile Marker 2, Sunland Park
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be performing roadway repairs on NM 273 “McNutt Road” at milepost 2. The driving right lane is expected to be closed through August 30th. Motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and be cautious of personnel and equipment in the area.
NM 152 Bridge Replacement, Hillsboro
The Federal Highway Administration ‐ Central Federal Lands Highway Division (FHWA‐CFLHD) has started replacement of truss bridges project on NM 152. The two existing bridges on NM 152 are between Hillsboro and Kingston, milepost 46 and 43. The contractor is currently building the new bridges. Watch for roadway reconstruction and large trucks turning. A shoo-fly style detour as well as temporary traffic signals will be in place 24/7 for traffic control. Contractor’s hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
NM 404 and I-10 Bridge Replacement, Anthony
AUI, Inc. (Contractor) is continuing with roadwork and replacement of the NM 404 Bridge over I-10 at milepost 162, Anthony exit. Detours for I-10 EB exit/entrance ramps at the Anthony exit are now in operation, motorists should be on alert for the new traffic pattern at the intersection with NM 404. Traffic should expect lane closures on I-10 eastbound and westbound. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic control will remain in place 24/7.
NM 187 “El Camino Real”, Mile Marker 16.93 to 31.1, Arrey-Caballo
FNF Construction, Inc. (Contractor) is continuing with replacement of Bridges located in Arrey and Caballo. A shoo-fly diversion is in place at King Canyon (MP 20) and at Seco Creek (MP 26.6). NM 187 is completely open to traffic. Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.
Chip Seal Projects, Grant Co:
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be performing “Chip Sealing and Brooming” operations in Grant Co. Speed limits will be reduced, no center stripe with loose gravel on roadway. Traffic will encounter lane drops with pilot car and flagging operations.

City of Las Cruces Projects:
Tashiro Drive Widening
Tashiro Drive is scheduled to undergo utilities and roadway reconstruction by Morrow Enterprises, Inc., as part of the City of Las Cruces Tashiro Drive Widening Project. Work will begin Monday, October 26, 2020, and the closure is estimated to last approximately 9 months in duration. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and as late as 6 p.m. During construction, access to Tashiro Drive from North Valley Drive, or North Motel Boulevard, will not be permitted, signage and detours will be present directing traffic around the closure by way of West Picacho Avenue. Access to the Field of Dreams Facility and Baseball Complex will be available through the parking lot entrance north of Tashiro Drive on North Motel Boulevard. Tashiro Drive, from Motel Boulevard to Horseback Drive, will also have lane closures beginning Monday, April 5, 2021, which are estimated to last approximately 5 months in duration, two-way traffic will be maintained.
Solarridge Street
Solarridge Street from Mars Avenue to Sunridge Drive is scheduled to undergo roadway and water utility improvements by A Mountain Professional Construction, LLC as part of the City of Las Cruces Solarridge Waterline and Pavement Replacement Project. Work will begin Thursday, June 3, 2021, and the closure is estimated to last approximately 3 months in duration. During construction, access to Solarridge St. will not be permitted for through traffic. Access to residences will be maintained. Sidewalks will be closed in areas for construction and for the safety of the public. Signage and detours will be present directing traffic around the work zone.
Calle Del Ranchero
Calle Del Ranchero between Reynolds Drive and Cortez Drive is scheduled to undergo roadway and utility improvements by Smith and Aguirre Construction Company, Inc. as part of the Las Cruces Utilities Hacienda Acres, Phase II Sewer Improvements Project. Work will begin Monday, June 14, 2021, and the road closure is estimated to last approximately until August 6, 2021, depending on weather conditions. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. During construction, access to Calle Del Ranchero will not be permitted to through traffic. Access to residences will be maintained.
Peachtree Hills Road
Due to storm drain upgrades as part of new residential development, Peachtree Hills Road between Sonoma Ranch Boulevard and Metro Park Street will be closed while Renegade Construction, LLC places concrete box culverts. The closure will begin on Monday, April 26, 2021, and will last to approximately August 2, 2021. A detour will be in place throughout the duration of the construction and traffic will be guided through Sirocco Avenue and Metro Park Street.
