Governor Lujan Grisham to lead clean hydrogen trade mission to Australia

SYDNEY, Australia – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham will lead a business and trade mission to Australia on Sunday to participate in the Asia Pacific Hydrogen 2023 Summit and meet with manufacturing companies interested in expanding to New Mexico.
The governor will make an economic development announcement around clean hydrogen during the mission. At the summit, she will speak on a panel titled “Regional Collaboration & Trade from Asia-Pacific to the World” on October 26. The governor will also meet with several Australian and regional public officials and business leaders one-on-one.

Governor’s Organized Crime Commission meets with Mexican officials

SANTA FE – Leadership from the Organized Crime Commission established by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham met with officials in Sonora, Mexico, this week to evaluate ways the two states can work together to combat human, drug and gun trafficking.
Commission leadership attended a meeting with Sonora Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño and his Security Cabinet. Governor Durazo stated that Sonora is ready to tackle cross-border crime between New Mexico and Sonora to protect the public safety of both states and the border region.

NMSU professor, film students making feature-length film, looking for extras

The Creative Media Institute is building on its reputation to make southern New Mexico a Mecca for filmmaking with the latest project by New Mexico State University professor Ross Marks.
Marks is teaching a class this semester where his students are making a full-length feature film titled “The Santa Assist,” starring Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominated actor Eric Roberts. The film also stars Eliza Roberts, Johnathan Stoddard and Alexandra Harris.

NMSU alum’s new gallery to display fellow art alum’s work

Nathan Smith, a local photographer and artist, was able to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees of fine arts at New Mexico State University thanks to a full academic scholarship and his dedicated art professors.
Now he is a Las Cruces business owner, paying it forward and helping other alums to show their artwork. Smith recently opened a gallery in Mesilla called Casa Otro, a passion project he sees as a “refuge for creative contemplation centered on what unites rather than separates us.”

Correction and disclaimer from NMSU: The program admitted 24 students to its generic DNP program in August 2023 and those students will matriculate into the nurse anesthesiology specialty after program accreditation is obtained. The NMSU Nurse Anesthesiology program is pursuing initial accreditation by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA), 10275 W. Higgins Rd., Suite 906, Rosemont, IL 60018-5603; (847) 655-1160, https://www.coacrna.org/. The Nurse Anesthesiology program is undertaking capability review and is planning for an accreditation decision in October 2023. Applying for accreditation does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted.
New Mexico State University now houses the only program in New Mexico that trains students for one of the most in-demand health care professions in the United States.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice in nurse anesthesiology is the newest advanced nursing degree offered by the NMSU School of Nursing in the College of Health, Education and Social Transformation. The three-year program trains baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses to become CRNAs, or certified registered nurse anesthetists.
