Jane A. Heinz, 78, of Lafayette, IN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday Feb. 24, 2015 at Rosewalk Village with her family by her side.

She was born in Newton, MA, on May 23, 1936 to Gladys Bishop and George Ralph Arnold. She graduated from Newton High School, and then from Pembroke College at Brown University with a degree in psychology in 1958. She worked in a lab at MIT after college. Her marriage was to John Heinz. She lived in Marblehead, MA, Stockholm, Sweden, Baltimore, MD, Silver City, NM, and moved to Lafayette in 2008. For much of her life, she worked as an educator in early childhood education.

She is survived by her son Michael Heinz (Karen Hull) of West Lafayette, grandchildren Jonathan and Ainsley Heinz, nieces Ellen (Roger) Lanse of Silver City, NM, and Candace (Tom) Manero of Eliot, ME, and great nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her sister Lois and nephew David.

Jane will be remembered for her loving personality, her care-free approach to life, and her beautiful smile. She enjoyed the little things in nature, gardening, her dogs and cats, opera, bingo, and sports (with a particular fondness for Ted Williams). She adored her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of West Lafayette.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful people at Rosewalk Village for bringing so much love and happiness to Jane's life in the past four years.

Visitation will be on Friday March 6th from 1 to 2pm at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette, followed by a memorial service at 2pm with Rev. Craig LaSuer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1700 West State Street, West Lafayette, IN 47906.
