Lloyd Arrington RSLloyd L. Arrington, 91, went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2015.

Lloyd, affectionately known as "Chief" by his friends, was born June 16, 1924, in Hazelwood, NC, where he lived until joining the United States Army in 1943. Lloyd faithfully served our country for 22 years receiving Honorable Discharge as a 1st Class Sergeant in 1965. During his time serving our Country he served in France, England, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Japan and Korea including combat in Europe during World War II. He received Two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. He also received several Highest Letters of Commendation from three Generals and two Colonels as well as a Letter of Appreciation from the Mayor of Yokohama, Japan, for a saving a drowning school boy. In the last years of his military service he was stationed in Huachuca, AZ, where he met and married his wife, Hope Arrington. They eventually settled in Hurley, NM, and Lloyd served as Chief of Police of the Town of Hurley for 13 years.

Lloyd and Hope were married for 48 years before the Lord took her home. She was very ill the last several years of her life and Lloyd stood by and faithfully took care of her.

Lloyd's passion was raising roses, tomatoes and plants which he also used as a way to serve. Not only did he keep friends stocked in delicious tomatoes he volunteered his landscaping services at the Army bases he was stationed at and to the Town of Hurley for which he received Letters of Appreciation from both.

Lloyd was an avid sports fan but especially loved all North Carolina teams who represented his beloved home state. Lloyd, "Chief", will be dearly missed by his many friends and family. Lloyd is preceded in death by his Wife, Hope Arrington, and six brothers and sisters.

He is survived by one sister, Alice Brady, and brother-in-law, Bob Brady, of Tampa, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service is scheduled for Friday, January 15, 2016, at 9:30 am, at Indian Hills Baptist Church, followed by inurnment with full military honors at Ft. Bayard National Cemetery. Cremation has taken place at Terrazas Crematory.
