Jesus Lopez rsJesus "Chuy" Lopez, 70, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Friday, April 15, 2016 at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.

He was born November 29, 1945 in Luna, NM to Andore Lopez and Frances Peralta.

Chuy retired in 2002 from the Silver City Fire Department as Battalion Chief. He continued CPR/First Aid classes and had his own business known as Life Extension. His part-time business was C&R Upholstery. He contracted for 10 years through T&T Fireworks and blessed various churches.

Chuy graduated from School of Ministry at Glad Tidings Church in Silver City on May 1995. He played the base guitar at church and his special was "One day at a time sweet Jesus". He enjoyed sharing his faith with everyone he met, especially at the Drifter Restaurant. He was a very gifted servant of the Lord. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending times with family and resting out in God's open country.

He faithfully attended Pastor's meetings every Tuesday for eight years, praying for our city and country. He enjoyed meeting people and immediately connected and became their friend. He was in five different hospitals in two years and would spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and prayed for doctors, nurses and almost all who entered his room.

The love of his life was his wife Rita. He truly left her in good hands as his Lord is her Lord. Both served the Lord for 30 years. All his children and grandchildren were always in his prayers everyday. He will truly be missed by his wife, family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rita of the family home; his children, Violet and Robert Burchfield of Silver City; Tina Lopez and Raymond Vega of Silver City; Suzette and David Escudero of Silver City; Jessica Lopez of Silver City; Rachael Lopez of Sacramento, CA; Jesus (Lil Chuy) and Patty Lopez of Sacramento, CA; step-children, Dion Rodriguez of Silver City; Dee Ann and Joe Rodriguez of Bayard; Benjamin and Samantha Rodriguez of Jasper, GA; Virginia Lynn Sanchez and Jeremy of Silver City; thirty-six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ignacio and Lucy Nuanez of Las Cruces; one sister, Donna and Ray Herrera of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Jenny Martinez; two brothers, Bobby and Sammy Lopez; one granddaughter, Jasmine Sanchez.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 25 at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Rev. Molly Andazola and Pastor George Gillespie officiating. Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
