Mary Martinez rsMary H. Martinez was born on March 27, 1922 and on August 17, 2016 Mary's life's course ended at the blessed age of 94.

Mary was born in Santa Rita, New Mexico to Felipe Huerta and Adela Cabrera and later they moved to Bayard where she lived all of her life.

She married Paul Martinez on December 31, 1949 and enjoyed 61 years together before his passing four years ago. The events of her life went from a young woman who worked at the Texas Store in her 20's to marriage in her 30's and then raising her two children. The next stage was enjoying the coming of her grandchildren whom she dearly loved. Those grandchildren grew up and brought great-grandchildren into her life who always put a smile on her face.

Mary is survived by one son, Tom Martinez; one daughter, Evelyn Vasquez (Jeff); brothers, Sam Huerta (Ruth), Danny Huerta (Mary Ellen), and Robert Huerta (Phyllis); one sister Rebecca Dutro; grandchildren, Jeremy Vasquez, Levi Vasquez (Alexandria Davis), Daisha Davis (Michael), Gina Gonzales (J.P.), Elayna Martinez, and Thomas Martinez; Six great-grandchildren, Anaya Scott Davis, Taya Davis, Liam Davis Vasquez, James Jr., Jake and Miranda Gonzales.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, spouse Paul Martinez, brother, Guillermo Huerta, and sisters, Alice Fedek and Jean Wing.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Baca's Funeral Chapels. The Funeral Service will follow at 9:30 am with Pastor Bob Huerta, officiating. Concluding services and interment will be at 11 am at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Martinez, Jeff Vasquez, Jeremy Vasquez, Levi Vasquez, Michael Davis, and Kenny Dutro.
