don hill rsHoward Donald (Don) Hill was born on August 14, 1933 in Kerens, TX to James Ernest and Mittie Hill. He left this earth on July 2, 2017 in Round Rock, TX.

Don married Marilyn Kuehler on August 14, 1952 in Brownfield, TX. They were married for almost 63 happy years before her death in June, 2015. At the time of their marriage he worked for Amerada Oil Company in Brownfield. He then operated a laundry in Levelland, TX before going to work for El Paso Natural Gas Company in January, 1959. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas until his retirement on the pipeline, at Station Number 1, Deming Station, and at Gage. He has been an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church since the family moved to Deming in 1962. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a part of the Klobase barbeque for many years. He also raised funds for the new air conditioning for the church along with his friend, Ruly Viramontes. He was part of the Cancer Support Group of Deming and Luna County serving on the board for more than 10 years. During that time he filled the office of chairman of the board and treasurer. He loved Deming and served on many other committees and with many groups. He was instrumental in getting the Little League baseball charter and field in Deming having served as a coach for many years. He was an avid golfer and loved the Deming Invitational and played in it for more than 50 years.

Don leaves behind with loving memories of a wonderful dad and Grandpa Don; his children, Rhonda Phillips(Lu), Janet Hall(Jim Henery), Gary Hill(Heather), and his daughter-in-law Lisa Hill Carnett(Vince); grandchildren Cammie Bishop(Bradley), Chase Hall(Lacey), Courtney Hall, C.J. Henery, Robin Henery, Christopher Hill(Briana), Nicholas Hill, Sean Carnett, Loryn Nutt(Derek), Bethany Hill and Jacob Hill; and great grandchildren Sawyer, Emerson, Bowen, and Stella Bishop, Olivia Hall, and Audrey Hall; his sisters Betty Ray(Melvin) of Portales, Bess Martin of McKinney, TX , and his brother Gene Hill(Cathy) of Elephant Butte, NM, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, David and Kevin Hill, a grandson, Trent Phillips, and his brother Jim Hill.

A prayer vigil and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Baca's Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Machado officiating. Cremation has taken place and private inurnment for the family will be held following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Cancer Support Group of Deming and Luna County, P.O. Box 1746, Deming NM 88031.

The family would like to thank the staff of University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX and Seton Hospital in Round Rock, TX for their loving care of Don and his family.
