olin herrera rsOlin P. Herrera, 75, longtime Deming resident passed away Sunday November 12, 2017 at her daughter's home surrounded by family.

Olin P. Herrera was born on November 8, 1942 in Santa Rita, NM, to Manuel and Maria Pilar (Oliva) Rodriguez. She lived in Santa Rita until she moved to Deming, NM in 1959. Olin was a homemaker; always serving others as that was her passion in life. She was a faithful servant of God who served for Holy Family and St. Ann's Catholic Churches. She sang in the choir, and gave her time and energy to the bereavement committee at St. Ann's. She was an active member of Holy Family parish where she was a communicant, a member of the Altar Society, a member of the Divine Mercy prayer group, a volunteer as needed for other parish ministries, Alter Society Woman of the Year for two years, a member of the Holy Family Crafters, and served for many years on the Bereavement Committee, and served as chairwoman from 2008 until 2015.

She is survived by daughters, Evangelina (Vangie) Tarango and Irma P. Herrera of Deming, NM. Her Goddaughter, Laura Galindo of Santa Fe, NM. Sister, Ruth (Susano) Rodriguez of Hurley, NM. Brother, Ruben Rodriguez of North Hurley, NM. Grandchildren, Carmen Ytuarte, David Valenzuela, Maricela Clark, Paul Valenzuela, and Andy Galindo. Great grandchildren, Thalia and Aubrey Ytuarte, Kaleb, Sophia, and Logan Clark, and Jayden Valenzuela. Special sisters, Magdalena (Jesus) Becerra of Mammoth, AZ, and Matilda Smith of Queen Valley, AZ. She is also survived by sons in law, Jose Tarango, David Harrison, Joe Galindo, and Freddie Valenzuela.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ray A. Herrera, her sons, Carlos and Arnold, her grandparents who raised her, Luis and Rita Gomez, father and mother, Manuel and Maria Pilar (Oliva) Rodriguez, brother, Daniel "Twist" Pedroza, and granddaughter, Kelly Ann Galindo.

Services for Olin will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Holy Family Parish, 615 S. Copper, Deming, NM. Divine Mercy Chaplet will be at 9:30 am led by Cindy Crosby. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am Concelebrated by Fr. Ron Machado and Fr. Manuel Ibarra. Concluding services and inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Serving as honorary pall bearers will be the four sons in law, and grandsons in law, Paul Ytuarte and Jason Clark.
