gutierrez 02Michael, Mike, Mijo, Brother, Pop, Babe, Uncle Michael, Cheringie, Nationwide, he had many names, and all suited this man’s enigmatic character. Michael Ismael Gutierrez was born on December 17, 1956 to Mike and Sally Gutierrez in Los Angeles, California. Michael died on January 29, 2020 in Silver City, New Mexico. Michael loved homemade tacos, chicken fried steak, fresh beans, red chili, Nascar races, guns, Harley Davidson, fast cars, great music, Marlboro Reds, old westerns, his white high-top Reebok’s, chocolate Entenmann’s donuts and Crown Royal. Not necessarily in that order. He hated authority and liars. Not necessarily in that order.

Michael loved beautiful women and married his first, Mary, at the ripe ol’ age of 17, with whom he had two extraordinary children, Marina and Michael, Jr. It didn’t last, but Michael was not a quitter, he married Monica Sullivan-Gutierrez and with her, found his life mate. Michael was proud of his tenure at the Tyrone Mine, he learned how to operate every machine in the place and was most proud of driving the “Earth Mover” and his certification as a First Responder. Michael was great at everything he set his mind to and helped build all the homes that he and his family came to occupy. His barks, genuine smile, enormous hugs, thundering laugh and itchy wet kisses will be remembered by all who encountered him.

When Michael took off to ride fences in the sky, he left behind his beloved wife Monica Gutierrez; his mother, Sally; his sister Norma; his brother Tom (Carlene); his daughter Marina; her husband Matthew and their sons Nate and Elijah. His son Michael; his wife Estee and their daughters Raeleen (Vidal), Reyann, Rose and Rechelle. He has two great granddaughters; Persephone and Camilla. No service will be held per his request.  Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~ 575-537-0777. To send condolences, visit www.terrazasfuneralchapel.com.
