TerrazasSSusie Ortiz Terrazas, 59, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, October 22, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.  She was born May 20, 1964 in Silver City to Cruz and Raquel G. Ortiz.

Susie was a beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She held a special place as the baby sister in the family. She had a unique relationship with each of her four children, nurturing and guiding them towards becoming the individuals they are today. Her support and love showed in the way she cared for and mentored her children. After her sister Olga's battle with cancer, Susie stepped in as a mother and grandmother to Diamond and her daughters. Susie's love also extended to her stepchild, Little Bobby, whom she welcomed into her heart with the same love she showed to her children. She was a dedicated caregiver to her brother Tony, whom she loved deeply. Susie had a gift for making everyone feel at home in her presence. Her home was a gathering place for countless nieces and nephews, whom she referred to as her "orphans." They would gather, savor her delicious meals, and enjoy her “scary” stories.

Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and she could be found cheering them on at their sporting events, proudly claiming the title of their biggest fan. Her family outings and camping adventures were treasured moments for Susie, and she always placed her family's needs above all else. Her playful spirit came to life when she sang to her grandkids and pulled off mischievous pranks. Her absence will be profoundly felt by the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her loving husband Robert “Bobby” Terrazas of the family home; three sons, Joseph Sedillos of Hurley; Anthony Sedillos and wife Robyn of Bayard; Robert Terrazas Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; three daughters, Amanda Valerio and husband Ben of Santa Clara; Danielle Sedillos of Hurley; Diamond Soto and companion Rocky Maynes of Tyrone; thirteen grandchildren; two brothers, Sam Ortiz and wife Sandra of Alamogordo; Tony Ortiz of Bayard; four sisters, Estella Salas and husband Javier of Bayard; Sylvia Candelaria and husband Antonio of Bayard; Rose Jimenez and husband Manuel of Bayard; Rachel Lozano and husband Hector of Safford, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Cruz Ortiz Jr., one sister, Olga Soto.

Visitation will be Friday, October 27th at 5:30-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.  The holy rosary will follow at 6pm with Father Martin Okonkwo reciting.  The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 28th at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Martin Okonkwo officiating.  Concluding service interment will take place at Memory Lane cemetery.  Pallbearers are Ramon Jimenez, Xavier Valerio, Jacob Vega, Louie Aguilar, Andres Aguilar, and Cruz Terrazas.

Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~ 575-537-0777.  To send condolences, visit www.terrazasfuneralchapel.com .
