GrimesEEdwin Ves Grimes, 74, passed away November 24, 2023 in Mesa, AZ. He was born June 17, 1949 in Santa Rita, NM, the youngest of 6 children, to William Frank Grimes (Goo) and Vernon Nancy Grimes.

Ves was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, his wife Clyda Farino; his only daughter Lavonne Wiggin; two sisters, Ellen Miller and Elizabeth (Libby) Keller; and brother William Frank Grimes Jr (Billy). 

He is survived by a sister, Jo Ann Passig of Carlsbad, NM; and sister-in-law, Jackie Grimes of Deming, NM; six grandchildren, Zachery, Ryan, Heather, Nicole, Thomas, and Ivy. seventeen great-grandchildren, Zayden, Zella, Zayana, Liliana, Abel, Remy, Egan, Hensley, Ariel, Adalyn, Elijah, Tristan, Laney, Cade, Zoey, Zaliyah, and Zariah and their grandmother Yavonne Rea; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. 

Ves played Cowboy Polo with his brother Billy in Silver City back in the day. He graduated Silver City High School in 1968. He loved throwing horseshoes, playing the card games, Pitch and Spades with family, hunting, trapping, rodeoing and attending family reunions. He was a special uncle to many nieces and nephews who have fond memories of him. 

Ves worked in underground mines, one being in Silverton, Colorado copper mines; the Water Department in Pinetop, AZ. He ran equipment in Deming; was a truck driver with Clyda out of Yreka, CA for many years until they came back to Silver City to help care for his mother with his sister, Ellen. He then started working for the Town of Silver City in the Water Department for 18 years before retiring. Ves moved to Apache Junction, AZ 6 years ago for health reasons. 

Ves’s loved ones would like to express their gratitude to his nephews Lewis, Paul, Nolan, Clee, Aaron, Clay, Dale & Bree.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service and Inurnment will take place at 2:00 pm Saturday, Dec 9, 2023 at Memory Lane Cemetery, Silver City, NM. Mr. Bob Salars will preside. A Gathering will follow at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3755 N. Swan St afterwards.
