George M. Arenibas, 64, a resident of Deming, NM

ArenibasGGeorge M. Arenibas, 64, a lifelong Deming resident, passed away at his home Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

He was born June 24, 1959, in Albuquerque, NM, to Manuela Morales and Tomas Arenibas, moving to Deming when he was a child. George graduated from Deming High School in 1978. After graduation he moved to Monahans, Texas, to work for Brown and Root. He came back to Deming and in 1982 began his career at Foxworth Galbraith. During his 40-year tenure, he made many friends. He was known for his fun, outgoing nature, his quick witty humor, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He retired in 2022 as Yard Foreman, but would still go in with a box of donuts to visit his former co-workers, who were like family to him. Jo-Jo, as he was known to his nieces and nephews, will be remembered as a diehard NY Giants fan, jokester, and someone who could make them laugh at the smallest thing. He will also be remembered for being optimistic, selfless, and a very caring and kind hearted man who loved them dearly and treated them as his own. They were all his favorites. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his siblings, and many close cousins and friends that he grew up with.

Alexander “Alex” Ray Sierra, 54, a resident of Silver City, NM

SierraAlexAlexander “Alex” Ray Sierra, 54, a resident of Silver City, NM, entered eternal rest Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, NM.  He was born September 4, 1968 to his parents Apolonio and Beatrice (Gonzales) Sierra in Silver City, NM.

Alex was a kind and loving man who will be missed by all. He will be dearly missed especially by his little champ. He may not have been proud of his past but without his past he never would have become the godly man he became now. Alex changed his life while in prison. He began to live the way God wants us to live. Although Alex had a rough start in life, he grew to know the Lord and changed his ways. He married Diane and she showed him true love. He always reminded her daily how much he loved her and would always say "You're the best!" "I love you so much!"

Alex enjoyed reading the bible with his family every night, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his wife and kids, they were the world to him. He liked collecting all kinds of things like baseball, basketball, & football cards; along with his hot wheels. He was always ready to pray for someone and loved talking to them about Jesus. He will always be famous for his crazy sayings like "Did you fart?" He would always ask random people, some would get upset, some would laugh. His other two famous lines "gahh look at the size of that thing" or "Did you say steak?"
