Anthony (Tony) Greensward, 70, a resident of Santa Clara, NM

GreenswardAAnthony (Tony) Greensward, 70, entered eternal rest on December 4, 2023, at his home in Santa Clara, NM.

He is survived by his aunt, Lucy Falley of Silver City, his uncle Richard Schram of Brevard, NC, and cousins Brian Kavanagh of Vancouver, WA, and Kevin Kavanagh of Austin, TX, Christopher Schram of Melbourne, FL, Aaron Schram of Chesterfield, VA, Tracy Schram of WV, and his loving dog, Cassidy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sabina Schram Greensward Hirshman, and his father James Greensward.



Tony loved the outdoors and living in Pinos Altos. He often walked in the morning and evening with his companion Cassidy. Cassidy has found a new forever home with Gene Gomez, another friend in Pinos Altos. He loved animals, liberal politics and enjoyed rock n’ roll music. Tony was the lead foreman over brush pullers and pilers for 13 years doing wildfire protection work with Gila Tree Thinners in southwest New Mexico.  His diligent forestry thinning work helped save nine homes from this summer’s Rico Fire in Pinos Altos.

Cris Eugene Brown, 64, a resident of Deming, NM

Cris Eugene Brown, 64, Deming resident entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in Las Cruces, NM. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Mimbres Crematory.

Joel Jay Jackson, 80, a resident of Hurley, NM

JacksonJJay passed away at home in Hurley, NM, surrounded by loved ones.

He is survived by his sons Jesse Jackson, Jamie Jackson, and granddaughter/daughter Allison Davis, his sisters Kaye (Jackson) Pruit and Joy (Jackson) Reed, daughter Trish Jackson and families.  Along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many cousins and friends.  Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Helen Jackson; wife Maggie; son Johnny; daughter Janine (Jackson) Bynum.  A special thanks goes out to Larry, Rosie, and Colter Eby, and Hector Gil for their tireless effort and help during his illness.

Jay was born in El Paso TX and raised in Hurley NM.  He graduated from Cobre High School in 1961 and after graduating from high school he served in the US Navy from September 1961-August 1965. After separating from the US Navy Jay traveled to Australia where he worked for two years at various Cattle Stations learning their ways and also teaching them the American ways to rope and brand. Upon returning to New Mexico, he worked as a boilermaker-welder for Kennecott and Phelps Dodge.
