Washington, D.C. - Power The Future (PTF) today commended the House Judiciary Committee's decision to open an investigation into the Climate Judiciary Project (CJP), an eco-leftist initiative housed at the Environmental Law Institute (ELI). Under the project, nearly 2,000 judges were offered curriculum designed to potentially influence federal and state judges on climate issues. The Judiciary Committee's decision arrives just a few weeks after PTF sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi calling for an investigation into the ELI scheme.
"Green activists know they can't win at the ballot box, so they're trying to tilt the courts in their favor," said Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future. "The fact we don't get to know which judges took part in these programs makes us believe this is indoctrination and not eduction. The American people deserve judges who are impartial, not ones spoon-fed talking points from groups with an agenda."
Through the Freedom of Information Act process, PTF uncovered conversations between those involved in the CJP/ELI program bragging they were providing information to "counteract arguments from nonbelievers."
Additionally, attorney generals from 23 states have called on EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin to cut any funding to the program.
