GLENWOOD -- If you're looking for something to do in the great outdoors, check out the annual Glenwood Dutch Oven Gathering Saturday April 11 at Glenwood Community Park.
The event features teams cooking up delicious meals in Dutch ovens at campsites around the site. It's fun to watch the teams as they prepare traditional and updated dishes over campfires and charcoal fires.
Each team will prepare a full meal -- a meat dish, a side dish, a bread, and a dessert. Water, lemonade, or coffee will be supplied with the meal. Each camp will have a menu on display.
Western New Mexico University (WNMU) is preparing for the 59th edition of the Great Race, the university's most storied and high-octane tradition. What began in 1967 as a mattress race has evolved into a week-long celebration of endurance, engineering, and school spirit.
Members of the press are invited to cover the culminating events, featuring human-powered cart racing, the infamous "Mud Hole," and the crowning of the 2026 champions.

SILVER CITY, NM — TheActrix Studio is delighted to announce the cast for the 2026 season of DitchSpeare: Shakespeare in the Big Ditch, Silver City's beloved outdoor theatre tradition.
Each summer, performers and audiences gather along the Big Ditch to experience Shakespeare's timeless stories under the open sky. What began as a small community experiment has grown into a vibrant annual event celebrating creativity, collaboration, and the enduring power of live theatre.
This year's cast brings together a dynamic mix of returning DitchSpeare favorites and new voices joining the ensemble for the first time. Over the coming months, the company will explore themes of humor, humanity, and the strange beauty of being alive together in a small town that loves its theatre.
The 2026 Ensemble includes: Emma Eileen McKinley, Elliza Mollman, Grace Mumby, Rowan Badilla, Anthony Crusco, Chrissie Souders, and Iah Bullard. Additional local performers are being tapped to perform smaller pieces for preview performances at various venues, or as surprise cameos during the run in the Big Ditch Park.
Rehearsals begin this spring, with performances planned for May 15-24 in the Big Ditch Park.
