Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump announced today an update on the Ratepayer Protection Pledge to ensure America can meet the growing electricity demands of artificial intelligence while working to protect families from higher utility bills. Over 200 utilities, data center developers, and other entities have committed to supporting the deal that embraces America's technological future, protects ratepayers, and strengthens the nation's ability to compete with China.
"Artificial intelligence is one of the, if not the biggest, technologies that will define the decades ahead, and the United States cannot afford to lose the race to China," said Larry Behrens, Communications Director for Power The Future. "President Trump is offering the right solution: build the power and data centers America needs while ensuring families are not forced to subsidize some of the largest companies in the world. This is a practical path forward that protects ratepayers, strengthens our electric grid, and keeps American innovation moving."
Power The Future previously released its report, Manufactured Outrage, documenting how national environmental organizations, murky donor networks, and foreign billionaire funding are working to obstruct data center construction and energy infrastructure. That report helped prompt leaders of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce to request the FBI to examine foreign influence campaigns targeting American AI development.
