Siren
Today's Santa Fe Democrats have less in common with the last generation of New Mexico Democrats, who enriched themselves while serving New Mexicans. And more in common with Odysseus's Greek Sirens, who seduced the sailors with their songs only to wreck them and their ships on the rocks of Scylla.
Today's Democrats seduce New Mexicans with Healthcare, Child Wellbeing, Education, Safety, Opportunities, Energy, Infrastructure, and Responsibility every election season. But the gaged rocks of New Mexico are more treacherous than those of Scylla.
Once New Mexicans elect Democrats to office, they once again discover that, despite the promises, NM Healthcare is affordable, but inaccessible except for assisted suicide. NM Child-Welfare's proactive approach is CYFD as a last resort, and aborting children as a first resort. NM Safety is between Rollerball and Running Man. NM Opportunities are between the NM Lottery and Breaking Bad Reality. NM Energy is expensive and rare. NM Infrastructure is ranked best for the auto-repair industry. NM Responsibility is ranked best by Ex-NM House Speaker Sheryl Williams Stapleton and current NM Senate Pro-Tempore Mimi Stewart.
Fortunately for Odysseus's sailors, on his swift, black-hulled galley, he had them place cotton in their ears and lash him to the mast without the cotton. The sailors could not hear the Siren's Songs, but Odysseus could. Their ship sailed safely past Scylla while Odysseus went mad hearing the Siren's Songs.
New Mexico conservatives do not have a leader who is as true, strong, brave, and clever as Odysseus. But we are blessed to have a majority of New Mexicans who are God-fearing people.
You may ask, "Just who are those God-fearing people who do not look or sound like me?" In plain language:
Judaism is the original faith from which Christianity grew. It is centered on a covenant between God and the Jewish people and follows the Hebrew Scriptures. Judaism does not accept Jesus as the Messiah or as divine and continues to await the coming of the Messiah.
Catholicism is the oldest continuous form of Christianity, tracing its authority back to Jesus' apostles. It emphasizes a structured church led by the Pope, the importance of sacraments such as the Eucharist and Confession, and the belief that faith, tradition, and church teaching together guide Christian life.
Evangelical Christianity is a Protestant movement that focuses on a personal relationship with Jesus, individual conversion ("being born again"), the Bible as the sole authority for faith, and an active commitment to sharing the Gospel with others.
The LDS (Latter-day Saints) faith teaches that it restores the original church established by Jesus, which it believes was lost after the early apostles. It includes additional scriptures beyond the Bible, modern prophets, and distinctive teachings about God, Jesus, family, and the afterlife that differ from traditional Christianity.
Can we agree to put our differences aside and work together to lift New Mexico from the bottom of all the states in the Nation? Because if we do not, New Mexico will continue lead the nation in…Inaccessible healthcare and assisted suicide. Child-welfare best is CYFD and abortion. The protection racket replaces the police department. The best opportunities are in gambling, sex trafficking, drug trade, and tobacco and alcohol sales. The speed limit is lowered to 55 for the quality of our roads, not to save fuel. Honesty either succumbs to corruption or leaves the state.
In the coming weeks, I will share with you a series of simple (simple but not easy) plans to disrupt those Sirens of Santa Fe. So the voters of New Mexico can see their ugliness and their true intentions.
