The Los Angeles Times is certainly not a conservative news publication so I was a bit surprised to read an article about the federal government's efforts to deport illegal aliens. The piece wasn't 100% supportive and did talk about how sometimes children will be involved and get scared. But in general it supported the efforts of the federal government.

The report talked about 11 families that had been taken into custody across the United States on the first day of a nationwide sweep to deport immigrants from Central America. The story focused on one particular family. Joanna Gutierrez lives in Norcross, GA with members of her extended family. She told local reporters that ICE agents had appeared at her door presenting a warrant to search for a man she did not know and had never heard of. The officers still searched the house, which she thought was wrong. They did not find him.

The officers then showed Joanna a picture of Ana Lizet Mejia and a young boy. Joanna immediately recognized her niece and her nine-year-old son who lived with her. Ana And her son had come to the United states illegally around 2014 after her brother was killed in gang violence that was engulfing her native Guatemala. As luck would have it, Ana and her son happened to walk up to the home at that moment. Officers detained Anna and her son ultimately taking them back to an ICE facility where they would be deported.

The Los Angeles Times peace said it was the difficult part of the operation because especially the young boy had known nothing but the United States and they were being sent back to a place he did not know and might be dangerous for them. Surprisingly for many of you, the reporter for the Times supported the actions of ICE.

Not too long after that, Tom Homan, the Executive Assistant Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, was awarded the Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Service. It is the highest award for career civil servants. In presenting Homan with the award, the president praised him for his no-nonsense tactics and approach to apprehending and removing people that were in the country illegally. The president recognized that some did not like the tactics but understood that they were necessary.

At this point, you might think this is odd. The corporate propaganda media has been nothing but critical of Tom Homan, Donald Trump, and the NAZI jack booted thugs that are ICE agents. The Los Angeles Times has certainly been one of the lead voices criticizing ICE and supporting the anti-ICE demonstrators. You are correct, but this article did appear in the Times. In 2015. When Barack Obama, the Deporter in Chief, was in office. My how times change.

Just like most of their fellow news organizations, when a president they liked was doing the exact same thing, they were supportive. When a president they don't like engages the same person to enforce the same laws in the same manner, this is fascism. That tells you all you need to know about the left.
