When I was in the 7th grade at La Plata junior high school, there was a sign in one of the classrooms. It said, "if ignorance is bliss, why isn't everyone smiling?" We know that ignorance actually results in emotions like frustration and anger. Politicians know this as well, often using the ignorance of the voting masses to create fear and thus motivate them to vote in a certain way or to lash out at their political opponents. The truth is our frustration and anger, not violence, should be directed at those very politicians. They are the ones that created this mess and they are the ones that could fix it if they really wanted to.
Donald Trump is hated by many on the left for deporting illegal immigrants without due process. He has even deported some legal immigrants, again according to the left, without due process. The truth is that federal statutes state immigrants, whether legal or illegal, are subject to expedited deportation. They do not have the same rights as a citizen of the United States. The Immigration And Naturalization Act of 1993 states this very clearly.
Jimmy Kimmel has been suspended by ABC after making false statements regarding Tyler Richardson, the man who killed Charlie Kirk. The left is angry because they say Donald Trump went after Jimmy Kimmel and is silencing him in violation of his right to free speech. The truth is that Kimmel either knowingly or should have known that he was disseminating false information in violation of FCC regulations. The local broadcast affiliates of ABC, CBS, NBC, are subject to rules that do not apply to cable networks. These rules require the broadcasters to serve the public good. Jimmy's own network had already debunked the claim that Richardson was a member of the MAGA community. ABC and all of their affiliates that aired his statements violated the rule.
One difference is that the FCC enforces this rule all the time but it's usually only one or two local affiliates that might violate a rule. In this case the FCC followed the law and told ABC, who created the show and employs Kimmel, that they had violated the rule and subjected all of their affiliates to potential fines. Thus it became a very high profile violation.
Leftists claim that Donald Trump does not have the authority to put tariffs in place without specific authorization by Congress. Never mind that previous presidents including Barack Obama had done the same thing utilizing the same legal authority given to the president by Congress and codified in law. The president has the authority to unilaterally enact tariffs in emergency situations. Emergency situation is not defined specifically so it is up to the discretion of the executive branch, which is the president, to justify his actions as meeting the standard of an emergency situation.
We could go on with the examples but the one thing that is common among all of these is that politicians passed these laws. Politicians have selectively enforced these laws. Now that Donald Trump is being consistent and following the law in his actions, people are upset. I'm not saying that other presidents haven't enforced FCC regulations or as we know with Barack Obama, deported illegal aliens without due process, but it was always someone that the left supported engaging in the action. Or the media just didn't report it because it couldn't be used against their political opponents. And the politicians aren't going to point out that he's following the law that many of them passed because they're afraid their past actions might come home to roost. Neither will they voluntarily change the law because some people might figure out they're the ones that created the law in the 1st place.
And that's where the left's anger should be focused. Their favorite politicians were complicit in passing these laws and allowing these regulations to be created by the various agencies. But now to reinforce their description of Donald Trump and his supporters as fascists, Nazis, bigots, misogynists, and whatever descriptive term they would like to use, they are preying upon the ignorance of their followers to create the division that we are experiencing today. They love it. Hakeem Jeffries has already said that when the Democrats control Congress in a year, everyone in the cabinet had better get a lawyer, Because they are coming after them for their heinous actions.
I've heard many people on the right side of the aisle react emotionally to recent events, not just Charlie's death, but the glee that many people expressed over his assassination. But we must continue to react without emotion. The left uses emotion to stir up its base and create the violence we have seen them commit. What we must do is continue to be peaceful and speak the facts. We must follow Charlie's example of embracing everyone and embracing civil discourse. Just like Donald Trump, Charlie did not agree with everyone's life choices, but he embraced them. He might have hated the sin, but he did not hate the Sinner. We will attract more people to the truth by remaining peaceful and accepting. But we must raise our voices, we must not be afraid to speak the truth.
Our reaction will be either the spark that starts a civil war, or it will be the water that douses the flames of anger that the political machine wants to see.
