Based upon the pictures I saw and the interviews I watched, those that participated in the No Kings' day demonstration accomplished their goal. Their goal was never to remove Donald Trump from office. It was to satisfy their ego and make them feel morally superior to the rest of us. They love to dance around and sing songs to make themselves feel good. They can then retire to their favorite coffee shop or craft brewery and talk about how they made a difference in the world that day.
They are delusional. Imagine the feeling of moral superiority that you must possess to believe that you know more than Iranians, or Venezuelans, or Cubans about their lives. All of those people were demonstrating against the tyrannical government under which they have lived for decades. Expats were celebrating in the streets of the United States and other countries because of our actions. Yet the left-wing nut jobs told them they were wrong. The demonstrators showed their support for true tyrannical leaders ignoring the people that were begging for freedom.
Imagine the blinders or rose-colored glasses that one must wear to complain about a president being a king, when your own party refused to hold a primary to determine your candidate for the office of president. When your own party tried to remove a primary challenger from the ballot in several states by asking the courts to take him off the ballot. The same party that coronated an unelected candidate, one that couldn't even get a vote in a previous primary race for the same office. Then that party tried to sue in several states to have the opposing party's candidate removed from the ballot. If that's not the definition of a monarchy or a king, I don't know what is.
These are the same people that claim to want to protect the democracy and free speech. But only if you say something they like. If you have a differing opinion, you are to be cancelled and possibly jailed. Don't dare criticize some of their favorite demographic groups either. Even if you are correct factually, you will be labeled as a hateful person.
Maybe I don't understand how monarchs act. I seem to recall that most rulers don't like to be criticized. Demonstrations like the No Kings protest are usually met with violence from the ruler's enforcers. Try to organize a demonstration in Iran, Venezuela, or Cuba. We know how that works out; if you are lucky, you end up in prison. If you're not lucky, you are dead. Did I miss that part of the No Kings protest? Or were they allowed to hold their rallies without interruption from the government?
Even though nothing has changed, the protesters are congratulating themselves and each other for their daring actions. And we should thank them, because today we still don't have a king. And they provided us with some level of entertainment.
