Easter Bunny Visiting Southwest New Mexico
2026

In this photograph, the Easter Bunny was greeting children on the South Lawn of The White House last year as an honored guest of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The occasion was the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. (The photograph was provided courtesy of The White House, April 21, 2025.)

Nuacht Aoir has learned – exclusively – that the Easter Bunny has been in Southwest New Mexico for the past few days.

According to comments from the Easter Bunny made during an off-the-paw interview – an exclusive interview by Nuacht Aoir – many children (and children-at-heart) should have Easter baskets filled with goodies this morning. While some of the Easter baskets may be modest this year, others may be filled with food that is quite tasty.

The interview with the Easter Bunny took place in a secluded area in the Florida Mountains in Luna County. The Easter Bunny provided Nuacht Aoir with a preview of the plans for the Easter Bunny for this Easter Sunday as well as plans for Orthodox Easter Sunday for next weekend. The quotes from the Easter Bunny in this news column are from that interview.

Due to the sensitive nature of the travel plans of the Easter Bunny, Nuacht Aoir agreed to refrain from reporting on the Easter Bunny's visit here until today.

"Every good little boy and every good little girl will get an Easter basket this year," the Easter Bunny said. "I recognize that the economy may not be the best for everyone, but I want every New Mexican to know that every Easter basket left by the Easter Bunny is filled with joy and happiness."

Jelly beans, duck eggs, and coconut cream eggs dipped in chocolate are among the favorite candies this year, according to the Easter Bunny. Hand-crafted hard-boiled eggs dyed in pastel colors and decorated with creative designs remain popular among Americans.

(Please note that Nuacht Aoir rarely holds back from asking the tough questions, but in the interview with the Easter Bunny, Nuacht Aoir thought it best not to ask the Easter Bunny about chocolate bunny candies. Asking the Easter Bunny if it's best to eat the ears first or the tail first just seemed – well, inappropriate – at the time.)

Many may be surprised to learn that the Easter Bunny does not personally eat candy. Instead, the Easter Bunny prefers fresh vegetables and hay.

"Carrots are a special treat for me," said the Easter Bunny. "I also enjoy leafy greens, some fruits, and specific varieties of hay. It's good to see some of the folks in Southwest New Mexico enjoying carrots and leafy greens too, but I know that on Easter, a variety of candy is what many of the children want in their Easter baskets."

While here in Southwest New Mexico, the Easter Bunny visited with friends in several areas, including in the Florida Mountains and in the Gila Wilderness.

"I haven't had the opportunity to visit with friends in Luna County for a while," the Easter Bunny said. "It was great to see old friends as well as make new friends in the Florida Mountains."

"Much of my time spent here has been in the Gila," the Easter Bunny continued. "It's quite refreshing to drink from the waters there. The grasses are wonderful to rest in. And the tree cover? Amazing."

"Being in the wilderness is so peaceful," the Easter Bunny added.

Nuacht Aoir is able to confirm, as of this morning, that the Easter Bunny is on schedule to deliver Easter baskets to all good little girls and good little boys who celebrate Easter today.

In addition, the schedule has been set for the worldwide trip planned by the Easter Bunny for Orthodox Easter Sunday next week.

"I have been assured by all of the leaders of countries and territories throughout the world that the Easter Bunny will be given safe passage on both Easter Sunday and Orthodox Easter Sunday," stated the Easter Bunny. "I'm pleased that all of the leaders want the children in their communities to have this moment of love and peace."

"While I hope that all little boys and all little girls have been good this year, the Easter Bunny believes all children are good at heart – even those children that may still be working on aspects of their goodness," the Easter Bunny continued. "I am honored to be able to encourage all of the world's children to share the goodness that I know each child has in their heart."

With that note of hope and with a wave of a paw, the Easter Bunny concluded the interview and hopped off to visit with several of the critters that had been patiently waiting nearby to meet with the Easter Bunny.

Happy Easter!
