"The Eighth Principle” at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City
Sunday, October 10, 2021, 10:00am |
Michael Sheffer will talk about the Unitarian Universalist Association’s proposal of adding an Eight Principle, which will call us to examine racism in ourselves and in our institutions. Join us for a look at how this Principle was developed, and what it means, followed by a discussion.
Sheffer’s early years were spent in suburban Detroit. Later, when his father’s company transferred him to Sao Paulo, Brazil, Sheffer attended an English-speaking high school before returning to Michigan to attend college at Michigan State University. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and after graduation he journeyed west and settled in Albuquerque. He has since lived in Denver, Tampa, Miami, Raleigh, and Las Vegas, Nevada and has been a member of Unitarian Universalist congregations in all of those places.
Sheffer is retired and splits his time between Phoenix, Arizona and Pinos Altos/Silver City. In addition to being a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City he is also a member of the UU Phoenix Congregation.
