“Strong New Mexico Women” with Dr. Ron Hamm
Wednesday, September 28, 2022, 12:00pm - 01:00pm |
Hamm will present highlights from his recent book, “New Mexico Heroines of the Twentieth Century: Role Models for Today.” He will offer selections from the book’s more than 250 vignettes of strong New Mexico women of diverse cultures, backgrounds, beliefs, and persuasions who have distinguished themselves in wide-ranging fields over the plast 100 years. These groundbreakers include scientists, educators, artists, political activists, politicians, healers, musicians, and writers. Their accomplishments, contributions to our state, and ability to surmount barriers to female leadership, make them apt role models for the current era.
Ron Hamm is a former university professor in Haiti, Argentina, New Mexico and Texas and has taught on U.S. Navy warships around the world. He has half a dozen non-fiction New Mexico based books to his credit and is presently working on a biography of the late writer and conservationist Dutch Salmon of Silver City. He holds a PhD from Texas A&M University.
