Creating Characters that Live off the Page: How to Capture Compelling Characters
Saturday, April 15, 2023, 10:00am - 12:00pm |
Kris Neri will offer the latest workshop in Southwest Word Fiesta’s Write Stuff writing series, a 2-hour talk:
Creating Characters that Live off the Page: How to Capture Compelling Characters
The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 15, from 10 am - noon, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, 3845 N Swan St, Silver City, NM.
All fiction writers need to create unforgettable characters. If writers don’t have techniques for developing characters that live off the page, too many will emerge flat and generic, lacking in compelling and memorable traits. Kris Neri will show attendees how to create characters from their deepest cores, through all their layers — characters that seem as unforgettable as real people. She will share basic, intermediate, and advanced techniques to give attendees the best tools t.
The workshop will be equally valuable for memoir and creative nonfiction writers, as it is for novelists and short story writers. Those writing memoirs, historical, and other forms of nonfiction also need techniques to explore the real people they plan to write about.
Kris will also share techniques for finding their characters’ unique voices. This workshop will also include an exercise and feedback.
