Jesus Antonio Pedregon
Silver City, NM –September 8, 2026, District Attorney Norman R. Wheeler announced today that 30-year-old Jesus Pedregon has been held without bond after being charged with Aggravated Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer (No injury or great bodily harm) a fourth-degree felony, Possession of Stolen Vehicles or Motor Vehicle, a fourth-degree felony and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
Sixth Judicial Chief Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Vega represented the State during the hearing. The presiding judge was the Honorable Tom F. Stewart of the Sixth Judicial District Court.
August 24, 2026, US Marshal's officers located and identified fugitive Jesus Pedregon at a rest stop on US 180 as the driver of a stolen gold in color Toyota Camry with no license plate.
When authorities attempted to arrest him at a rest area on US 180, Pedregon fled with two passengers inside the vehicle, prompting a high-speed pursuit by New Mexico State Police. During the chase, Pedregon briefly stopped to let both passengers exit the vehicle before speeding off again.
The pursuit continued along US 180, reaching speeds of up to 120 mph. At milepost 133, New Mexico State Police officers deployed tactical tire-deflation devices ("stop sticks"). In an attempt to avoid them, Pedregon veered off the pavement, crashing into a dirt embankment. Both US Marshals and New Mexico State Police units arrived at the scene and Pedregon was taken into custody without further incident.
Pedregon also faces numerous charges which remain pending.
