Two incidents, one a shooting and the other a stabbing, continue to be investigated by the Silver City Police Department.
According to the SCPD, when officers arrived at 226 S. Corbin Street at 6:11 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, they observed a deceased male with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest area. Joshua Villa, 38, Silver City area, has been arrested for the offense and charged with aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and on a warrant for probation violation.
Villa remains in custody at the Grant County Detention Center,
A second incident, the SCPD told the Beat, involved the stabbing of an 18-year-old female on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026. When officers arrived at the corner of Broadway and Hudson Street at 7:14 p.m. on the 13th, they found a female in the parking lot who had been stabbed. She was transported to Gila Regional Medical Center by EMS, where at last report she is in stable condition.
Dominick Duran, 34, has been taken into custody for that offense and booked into the GCDC.
Both Duran and Villa were arrested without incident.
The two cases remain under investigation.
