On Thursday, October 26, the Beat called the Clerk's office and asked for the number of registered voters by party affiliation. These are the numbers:
Democrats 9,806
Republicans 6,387
DTS (Independents) 5,478
Other 414
Total 22,085
This was compared to the population of Grant County as determined by the U.S. Census. As of July 1, 2025, the estimate is:
Total Population 27,252 – 4,687 (population under 18) = 22,565
This means 98% of the adults in the county are registered to vote. The national average is 73.6%.
When the Grant County Clerk's office was asked the reason for the high registration rate, they said it was because a lot of people have moved away. And the only way to be taken off the voter registration rolls is if they write and request that. Family members can't do it.
One interesting figure is that in February 2026, there were 4,875 Independents so that increase of 583 made up almost all the October increase of voters which was 589. Democrat and Republican voters remained almost the same.
The 2020 New Mexico Audit Force's report Election Fraud in New Mexico(EFNM) showed a map on page 40 with Grant County in red as a having Likely Fraud in 2020.
The report listed Grant County as one of ten counties receiving funds from The Center for Tech and Civic Life, an organization partially funded by Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook. EFNM explained that Maggie Toulouse Oliver allowed the leftist organization RocktheVote.org to directly add Independent voter registrations without going through the Secretary of State portal.
The number of Independent voters in 2020 in Grant County was 3,544 and now is 5,478, in a declining population.
Federal Government's Effort to Obtain New Mexico Voter Rolls
On December 2, 2025: The DOJ sued New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, asking for access to the state's complete voter registration database. The requested records included voters' names, addresses, full dates of birth, driver's license numbers, and portions of Social Security numbers.
New Mexico had provided publicly available voter registration information but refused to disclose confidential personal information.
As of October 29, 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is continuing its legal effort to obtain New Mexico's complete, unredacted voter registration database. The case is currently before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. The case is No. 26-2126.
The litigation does not, by itself, establish whether New Mexico's voter rolls contain inaccurate registrations or evidence of voter fraud.
President Trump has offered $1,000,000 to anyone reporting voter fraud that results in arrest and conviction.
