Silver City, NM — On Saturday, June 13th, Hidalgo Medical Services (HMS) hosted its sixteenth annual Jump Into Summer event. The event saw an impressive turnout with over 400 registered children and more than 750 anticipated attendees.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage with various local healthcare system participants, including HMS' Behavioral Health, Dental, Family Support, Human Resources and Credentialing, I.T., Medical, Mobile Unit, Nursing, and Transportation divisions. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in hands-on education led by the HMS nursing department on "Stop the Bleed," diabetic education, and dehydration prevention.
The event also featured participation from several partners such as Amplified Therapy, Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico, Border Area Mental Services, Inc, Center for Health Innovations- Public Health Institute, Community Partnership for Children, Desert Rise Insurance Services, El Grito Head Start, El Refugio, Inc., Genoa Pharmacy, Grant County DWI, Grant County Sheriff's Office, Gila Regional Medical Center, Las Cruces Recovery Center, New Mexico Center of Excellence Early Childhood Program of WNMU, New Mexico Department of Health, Silver City Cycle/Bike Works, Silver City Daily Press, Silver City Fire Department, Silver City Library, Silver City Police, Silver Regional Sexual Assault Services, TWN Communications, US Forest Service, Western New Mexico University Foundation-LULAC/Southline Transmission Project, WNMU Nursing Department, and WNMU STEM Innovation Network.
In addition to learning about the local healthcare system, attendees enjoyed a variety of local food vendors, including Char.Cute.Rie, Chuskies Wagon, Grandma Shuney's Food Truck, June June's - Mint Chip, Snow Cone Stand, Sweet Dreams India, Sweet Spot, and TGI Frybread.
Participants had the opportunity to visit each healthcare and community partner table, making them eligible for free giveaways. HMS awarded six bikes and five scooters as grand prizes, as well as many more prizes.
The event featured several fun activities, including waterslides, face painting, music, a dunk tank, and more, ensuring a great time for everyone involved.
