Silver City Theatre (SCT) is pleased to announce a new chapter in its leadership, marked by a
blend of continuity, experience, and renewed creative vision, according to incoming President
Jim Charleston.
"Our leadership team represents a strong and invigorating commitment to honoring the theatre's
roots, 12-year history and to expanding its future."
"After years of dedicated service, MaryAnn Marlar has been named President Emeritus,"
according to Charleston. "In this role, she will continue to serve on the board, offering guidance
and institutional knowledge that has helped shape the organization's growth and community
impact. Her leadership has been instrumental in establishing SCT as a vital cultural presence in
Grant County."
"Jim Charleston is taking on the role of President," says Marlar. "He is a committed advocate for
the performing arts and longtime supporter of SCT. He brings a forward-looking perspective
focused on sustainability, community engagement, and expanding access to live performance."
Charleston announced, "Wendy Spurgeon has been appointed SCT Executive Director. Spurgeon
has been deeply involved in the theatre's operations and community outreach, and her leadership
will focus on organizational development, partnerships, and strengthening the theatre's presence
across the region with content that will bring audiences from Tucson, El Paso, Albuquerque and
beyond. The President and Board of Directors believe that the expertise she brings to the
organization is exactly what the theatre needs at this stage of its growth, and they are confident in
her ability to help guide SCT into its next phase."
