From the darkness needed for a restful night's sleep to the activities we enjoy beneath the stars, the night is filled with wonder and importance. Dark nights sustain critical wildlife ecosystems, strengthen the well-being of our communities, enable scientific discovery, and preserve shared cultural knowledge and traditions.

Tips for the Best Experience

PLEASE SILENCE YOUR DEVICES.  Protect Your Vision: Arrive on time to let your eyes adjust to the dark—this usually takes about 20–30 minutes. Use Red Lights: To keep everyone's night vision sharp, please use red flashlights and/or headlamps pointed at the ground. White lights (flashlights, cell phones, or vehicle headlights) ruin night vision. (DIY: You can make your own by putting several layers of red automotive tail light tape over a regular flashlight). Stay Warm: High-desert nights can be chilly. Bundle up! What to pack:

Chair and/or blankets

Extra clothes- Remember that our nights can still be chilly after sundown!

RED Flashlight/Headlamp

Binoculars

Your own mug! We'll provide hot tea, coffee, and hot water, if you would like to bring your own hot drink mixes.

The Heritage Site Gift Store and restrooms will be open throughout the event. Donations accepted!
