Earth Day takes place each spring on April 22, and these events are some of 500+ outreach events Citizens' Climate Lobby chapters are holding nationwide this month.

The New Mexico chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby will be inviting attendees to explore their motivations for caring about and being involved in climate-focused solutions. There will also be multiple opportunities to take action for the climate, including writing constituent letters in support of permitting reform to be delivered in person to members of Congress; helping attendees register to vote in upcoming elections, and signing up interested attendees to become members of the New Mexico chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby.

CCL volunteer Chris Brickley will be supporting the Silver City table at a joint event with the local trail hiking community. "It's a great opportunity for [CCL] to talk with a variety of people about individual ideas for protecting the earth, as well as issues like permitting reform that they can contact their legislators about," CCL volunteer Chris Brickley said. The Silver City event will highlight local and national actions as well as an interactive climate quiz for event attendees.

Sara Mason is the state coordinator for the New Mexico chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby and, along with other local advocates, works to build more support for climate action and show Senators Heinrich and Lujan that the community is eager for Congress to pass effective climate legislation.

About this year's Earth Day events, Sara Mason said: "I'm most excited for using the BRIDGE [Building Relationships in Intentional Dialogue, Growth, and Engagement] principles to have conversations with people about the many different reasons why we support taking action on climate and energy policy, and then giving people practical ways they can do it right then and there!"

Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization that empowers everyday people to work together across political differences, building the political will to advance effective climate solutions in Congress.
