Topic: RYLA Experience
Mackenzie Greene Spurgeon is an entrepreneur, former law enforcement professional, and experienced criminal investigator whose career has been defined by leadership, service, and a commitment to excellence. After nearly a decade in public safety and criminal investigations, she transitioned from government service in December 2025 to pursue her own business ventures, bringing the same dedication, strategic thinking, and leadership that distinguished her investigative career.
Mackenzie earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from Western New Mexico University, graduating with honors. She later completed the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy and became a certified law enforcement officer.
From 2017 until May 2025, Mackenzie served with the Silver City Police Department, where she rose to the rank of Detective. During her tenure, she investigated a broad range of criminal offenses, including homicides, crimes against children, crimes against women, fraud, burglaries, and other complex felony cases. She developed extensive expertise in crime scene processing, evidence collection, search warrant preparation and execution, interviewing and interrogating suspects and witnesses, digital investigations, and courtroom testimony. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and exceptional report writing earned recognition from prosecutors, fellow officers, and community members.
In 2022, Mackenzie was selected to serve as a Task Force Officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), assisting with federal criminal investigations while working alongside federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Her appointment reflected her investigative expertise and commitment to collaborative public safety efforts.
In May 2025, Mackenzie accepted the position of Senior Investigator for the Sixth Judicial District Attorney's Office, where she continued serving the criminal justice system from a prosecutorial perspective. In this role, she worked closely with prosecutors to strengthen criminal cases, conducted follow-up investigations, prepared complex cases for trial, interviewed victims and witnesses, gathered and analyzed evidence, and helped ensure successful case prosecution. Her experience in both law enforcement and prosecution provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice process from investigation through courtroom litigation.
Prior to her law enforcement career, Mackenzie completed an internship with the FBI's Counterterrorism Division in Phoenix, Arizona. During her internship, she contributed to the National Security Squad's Duty to Warn initiative involving the ISIL "Hit List" and served as a Social Media Monitor within the Tactical Operations Center during periods of civil unrest.
Throughout her career, Mackenzie pursued extensive professional development, completing advanced training in homicide investigations, cybercrime, child exploitation investigations, digital forensics, crime scene reconstruction, crisis intervention, forensic interviewing, leadership, and instructor development. She successfully completed the prestigious FBI LEEDA Trilogy, earning the FBI LEEDA Trilogy Award in 2025 after graduating from the Supervisor, Command, and Executive Leadership Institutes.
Her dedication to excellence was recognized through numerous honors, including being named Investigator of the Year in 2021. She also served as a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, contributing to investigations aimed at protecting vulnerable children and combating technology-facilitated crimes.
In December 2025, Mackenzie concluded her career in public service to pursue entrepreneurship and build her own business ventures. Today, she applies the skills gained through years of investigative work—including strategic planning, leadership, communication, risk assessment, problem-solving, and organizational management—to growing successful businesses. Her transition from public service to entrepreneurship reflects her passion for innovation, leadership, and creating meaningful opportunities while continuing to make a positive impact in the communities she serves.
