Debra Kay Garcia, 70, and Michael Garcia, 63, passed away together on August 6, 2026. Partners in life and love for nearly 38 beautiful years, their sudden departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of their family. Yet comfort is found in knowing they remain together eternally—just as they lived, side by side. Debra was born on April 3, 1956, in Wichita, Kansas, and graduated high school in Alaska before pursuing her college degrees. She approached education with remarkable dedication, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services/Psychology and later obtaining her Master of Science degree in Organization Development from Friends University. Balancing her academic pursuits while raising her two children was no small feat, but her strength and perseverance were unmatched. Beyond her professional achievements, Debra had a vibrant zest for life. She was a talented skier, an avid reader, and someone with a keen eye for interior design. Shopping was another passion she embraced with enthusiasm. She was funny, smart, analytical, emotionally intelligent, compassionate, forgiving, and incredibly strong—someone who could face any challenge head on and find a solution. Her career in the mental health community allowed her compassion and wisdom to shine, and after years of service to others, she retired proudly, leaving behind a legacy of care, insight, and resilience.
Michael was born on August 4, 1963, in Lynwood, California, and graduated high school in Bayard, New Mexico. Following graduation, he proudly dedicated four years to the United States Air Force, serving his country with discipline and honor. He later carried that same work ethic into his long career at Boeing, where he remained until his passing. Michael was devoted, loyal, and steady—a true provider whose heart was anchored in caring deeply for the people he loved. He found peace in fly fishing and had a deep love for anything outdoors. He enjoyed attending sporting events or cheering on his favorite teams from home, and he had a natural talent for working with his hands. When he wasn't on the job, he could often be found tinkering with cars or repairing farm equipment—always patient, always determined. Together, Debra and Michael built a meaningful life centered on service, hard work, and unwavering devotion to their family. Michael shared Debra's love for celebration, connection, and joy. Together, they created a home where music was played often, laughter came easily, and gatherings were filled with dancing, games, and warmth. Their partnership was a testament to commitment, resilience, and the beauty of a life lived fully and together. Family was at the heart of everything Debra and Michael did.
They are survived by their daughter, Jackie; their son, Nic, and his wife, Meaghan; and their cherished grandchildren, Brielynn and Bennett. Michael also leaves behind his parents, Danny and Carol, and his sister, Cathy. Debra is also survived by her sisters, Jean (husband Howard) and Leann (husband John), as well as her stepmother, Pearl. Together, they leave behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. They were preceded in death by Debra's father, Jerry; her mother, Leona; her step father, Galen; and her brothers, Jerry and Bill. Michael was also preceded in death by his brother, Daniel "Boone."
