Hector V. Bocanegra, 73, a resident of Lordsburg for over 50 years, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026, in Lordsburg, New Mexico. He was born on November 10, 1952, in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.
Hector was a man of many talents who made a living through various lines of work, but he found true fulfillment in construction and mechanics. He had a deep passion for the outdoors and loved camping, hunting, fishing, chopping wood and was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He cherished spending time with his family. Above all his hobbies, his favorite thing in the world was being a great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Luisa Villalpando, and his grandson, Sage Bocanegra Santoyo.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Cristina; his daughters, Ana Bocanegra, Cristina Bocanegra, and America Macias (Gabriel); and his sister, Maria Luisa Mendoza (Ruben). He also leaves behind his four cherished grandchildren: Christina Marie Gandarilla (Jesus), Julian Hector Grado, Gabriel "Roman" Macias, and Elly Macias; and five great-grandchildren: Jayden Bocanegra-Ruiz, Arius Bocanegra-Ruiz, Oziah Gandarilla, Christina "Alycet" Gandarilla and Xalia Gandarilla.
Services will be held on Saturday October 3, 2026 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Viewing will begin at 8:30 am followed by recitation of the rosary at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 o'clock with concluding services and interment at Shakespeare Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gabe Macias, Roman Macias, Jesus Gandarilla, Jayden Ruiz, Zorbabel Leon and Ruben Mendoza.
