Jerry Francis Gatton, 79, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Friday, July 31, 2026 at Providence Hospital in El Paso, TX. He was born April 12, 1947 in Buffalo, NY to Harry Gatton and Katherine Carmean.
Jerry began each day singing and dancing, making a joyful noise. He enjoyed spending time with his pals woodworking, fishing, and traveling.
Jerry was a talented electrical engineer who truly enjoyed his craft. He received his BSEE at NM State University (Power Option). During his career, he was employed by Duke Fluor Daniel, Phelps Dodge Corporation, Texas New Mexico Power Company, McKinley Sales, and Public Service of New Mexico. Some of the places that his jobs took him to were Chile, Peru, Norway, and Canada.
He was a devoted, active member of St. Francis Newman Center Parish.
He is survived by his loving wife Theresa "Teri" Monica Gatton of the family home; one son, Chris Gatton and wife Betty of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, Keegan and Devin Gatton; two sisters, Nancy Fritch and husband Ronald of Las Cruces, NM; Diana Mason and husband Fred of Silver City, NM; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The holy rosary will be recited by Sylvia Misquez on Saturday, August 8th at 9:30am at St. Francis Newman Center with the Memorial Mass to follow at 10am with Father Ephraim Ezulike and Bartholomew Ezenwelem concelebrating. Concluding service inurnment will take place at Memory Lane cemetery. Pallbearers are Dan Tressler, Pete Holguin, R.D. Moore, Larry LeBlanc, Lindy Roberts, Ricardo Diaz-Aponte, and Isabella Mittica.
