Olivia Hernandez, 71, a resident of Silver City, NM left this world in peace on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Banner University Medical Center, in Tucson, AZ. She was surrounded with love and support by her loving husband and all 3 of her kids up until her last breath. She was born on January 15, 1955, to Santiago Vital and Demetria (Fraire) Vital, in Apaseo, Nieves, Zacatecas.
Olivia had so many friends and family that will always remember her amazing laughter, that she never held back. Her beautiful soul showed through her smile. She showed her happiness even through the hard times. Her children and grandchildren meant everything to her, and she was always making sure they had eaten. If not, she would make something delicious with love, because she always put us before herself. Our mom loved going to the lake. Rudy will deeply miss his caring, loving and beautiful wife.
The memories will remain and the traditions will carry on. It's almost tamale season! Let's see what we have learned from our most loved teacher we call "MOM"!
She is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years, Rudy Hernandez; her sons Rudy (Michelle) Hernandez, Jr., and Ricky James (Marie) Hernandez, both of Silver City, NM; her daughter Emily (Eric) Carrasco, of Silver City, NM; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; her brother Antonio (Connie) Vital, of Clayton, NM; her sister Lupez Ordaz, Rio Grande, Zacatecas, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Santiago and Demetria Vital; her brothers Manuel Vital, Abel Vital, Alfonso Vital; her sisters Socorro Garcia, Genoveva Hernandez, Inocencia Garcia, Amelia Adame.
