GrayOwenOwen Corbett Gray, 70, a resident of Silver City, NM passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, May 17, 2026.  One fine summer Saturday, on June 25, 1955, Owen Corbett Gray was born in Carlsbad NM. As the second youngest of eight children, Owen had a little brother's heart all his life. He grew up in the deserts of the American Southwest. Owen was known for skipping school to play with snakes and lizards, catching bugs of all kinds, and taming wild burros, squirrels, and a variety of other creatures. His desert upbringing also inspired his lifelong love for rocks of all kinds.

Owen ran his own excavation company, Performance Breaking, for nearly 40 years, starting in Conway, AR. Since moving to Silver City in 1997, he has been cheerfully serving his customers in the local community, making friends wherever he went.

A lifelong Christian and morning person, Owen could be found sitting at the kitchen table every morning, reading his Bible and praying for his family, friends, and country long before everyone else was awake.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents Owen Corbett "O.C." Gray, and Bobby Jo Jones Gray. He was the last surviving of eight children. He goes to join his siblings Robert Willis (Las Cruces, NM), Sharon Sale (Mauii, HI), Bill Gray (Henderson, NV), Steve Gray (Sequim, WA), Doris Langley (Hamilton, Alabama), Patricia Gray (Las Vegas, NV), and Michael Gray (Silver City, NM) in a joyful reunion in the sweet hereafter.

His beloved wife of 43 years, Margie Gray, and children Janell, Alexandria (both of Seattle, WA), Jessa and Madison Gray with granddaughters Jade & Jasmine (Houston, TX), Luke & Karissa Hoar, with grandchildren Malaki & Hadassah (McKinney TX), Audrey Gray (Charlotte, NC), and Zachary Gray (Silver City, NM) are all blessed with a lifetime of memories with a quiet, kind, hardworking, and loving father. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 20th from 9-10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the funeral service to follow at 10am with Pastor Tim Heyer officiating.  Concluding service, the interment will take place at Memory Lane Cemetery.
