Paul David Wilson Jr., 76, Deming resident passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Mimbres Valley Medical Center in Deming. He was September 3, 1949 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Paul David Wilson Sr. and Rita Williams.
A son of a Military man, Paul grew up with a background and love for Law Enforcement. He began his career as a Correctional Officer for Dauphin County Prison in Harrisburg, PA. After years of faithful service to the correctional system Paul retired and offered his assistance to many volunteer organizations. Paul stuck with law enforcement as a volunteer firefighter for 35 years and at the Luna County Sheriff Department, as well as security for local events. He also volunteered his time as a driver for the Senior Center and Meals on Wheels, a volunteer at the Republican Party and even as Girl Scout Leader. Paul was also a member of the American Legion. He even offered his love and care as a foster parent to many children, those that has underling health issues. Paul had a love for trains and was huge collector of toys and model trains. From time to time during the Christmas holiday, he would decorate his yard with trains and allow the community to come and play with them. He also enjoyed on his downtime his fishing trips.
Paul is survived by his wife, Debora Wilson; his children, Scott Wilson, Patrick Landon (Cynthia), David Griffin, Deanna Wilson, Shawna Wilson, Tammy Elliot, Virginia Leos and Anna Leos; 3 siblings, Donald, Patricia and Violet. As well as his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Rita Wilson.
A Celebration of Paul's life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the American Legion. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Mimbres Crematory.
There will be will be ride to honor Paul, he was a Sargent at Arms with the Sons of the American Legion Post 4. The ride will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, those who wish to join will meet at American Legion Post 4 between 1 to 1:30pm and kickstands up at 2pm. The ride will be to Nutt Bar, then to the Adobi Deli and then back to Post 4. The donation fee will be to the Sons ($20.00 per bike/vehicle and $10.00 per passenger.)
