Richard Joseph Dellamaestra, 79 of Silver City passed away February 13, 2026 in Las Cruces, NM.
At Richard's request, cremation will take place. A memorial funeral service to celebrate his life will take place at One o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Baca's Funeral Chapels. Following the service his cremated remains will be laid to rest at Two o'clock in the afternoon at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.
Richard was born November 16, 1946 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Maxine Dellamaestra. He had served his country honorably in the United States Army. Richard had lived in San Diego, California before relocating to Silver City. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion as well as the Fleet Reserve. He was also a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Richard was a loving and a caring person. Always willing to help and teach no matter what the job he held or project he would be working on. He was like a Father, Grandfather, Brother, Mentor, and a Teacher to so many over the years.
Richard loved to fish as he was in many bass tournaments over the years and loved to cook with a passion. He touched so many hearts and lives no matter where he was at or doing. He will deeply be missed as so many loved him dearly.
Richard is survived by a brother, Frank Dellamaestra; sister, Karen La Vallie; nephews, Mathew Joseph La Vallie, Andrew Scott La Vallie; loving friends, Robert (Melissa) Ponce, their children, Trustin (Jimisha) Ponce and their children Landon and Axton Ponce; and Dustin (Jordan) Ponce and their children, Easton and Cameron. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph and mother, Maxine Dellamaestra and a brother, Kenneth Dellamaestra.
