Robert Dean Burchfield, 42, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at La Posada Assisted Living in Las Cruces, NM. He was born December 28, 1983 in Taos, NM to Gregory Dean Burchfield and Lovella Purcell.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 2004 to 2012, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his service he was deeply involved with the Honor Guard for five years where he became the head trainer, mentoring and guiding fellow service members with dedication and respect for military tradition.
Outside of his military service, he was a committed member of his church Grace Bible Fellowship. He faithfully served the church, including helping make the food for Men's Breakfast in which he taught his three boys the meaning of serving. He gave each one a task-Isaiah he taught to make the pancakes, JJ was in charge of cooking bacon, and Josiah was tasked with eggs. When Rob was unable to serve in this area, the men from church would pick up the boys and they would continue their father's service. Through the years, he also served on a church board as well as volunteered for children's church. His heart for service and fellowship made a lasting impact on those around him.
In his free time, he found joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. These moments brought him peace and he loved sharing them with his family.
He was most known for his steady faith and perspective on life, often reminding others, "Nothing surprises God."
He is survived by his loving wife, Violet Lopez Burchfield of the family home; his three sons, Isaiah Dean, Jeremiah James, and Josiah Robert Burchfield all of Silver City; his mother, Lovella Burchfield of Pea Ridge, AR; two sisters, Deanna Wood of Pea Ridge, AR, and Christy Gonzales of Silver City; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Greg Dean Burchfield, and Grandpa, Lee Dean Burchfield.
A memorial service will take place Thursday, March 12th at 11am at Arise Community Church with Jimmy Oliver officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors.
