Uziel "Uzi" Ricardo Barrera was born on November 18, 2007, in Phoenix, Arizona to Ricardo Barrera and Vianey Melero.

Uziel had a passion for sports and proudly played soccer, basketball, football, and especially baseball, which was his favorite sport. Whether on the field or with his teammates, he gave his all and played with heart. He also had a deep love for music and enjoyed every genre. Uziel joined the school band and later played the trumpet in mariachi, where he proudly shared his musical talent. Uziel loved to dance and was part of every quinceañera he could be in. He brought energy, joy, and unforgettable memories to every celebration. He also had a passion for cars and trucks and loved admiring them whenever he had the chance.

Known for his bright smile and sense of humor, Uziel had a gift for making everyone laugh. He always lifted others up with his encouragement, positivity, and caring heart. He was kind, compassionate, and always there for anyone who needed him, never hesitating to lend a helping hand.

BarreraUziel2Most of all, Uziel cherished his family with all his heart. His love, laughter, kindness, and adventurous spirit will forever remain in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him. Though his time with us was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on forever.

Uzi is survived by his parents Ricardo Barrera and Vianey Melero; his step-father, Martin Perea; siblings, Zanae Perea, Martin "Tin-Tin" Perea, Emma Perea, and Itzel Perea; as well as his many cherished family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Eusebio "Chevo" and Maria "Nina" Ortega and his uncle, Leonel Melero.

Visitation will begin Friday, August 7, 2026 from 9 to 10 o'clock in the morning at Baca's Funeral Chapel where the recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited at 10 led by Irma Jaurequi. The Funeral Mass will then be celebrated at 11 at St. Ann Catholic Church, cremation will follow and he will be laid to rest Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 9 o'clock in the morning at Mountain View Cemetery. Fr. Francis Gyau will be officiating.

Receiving the honor to serve as Uzi's pallbearers will be Jose Coronado, Martin Perea, Carlos Reyes, Axel Ortega, Rafael Huerta, and Adrian Huereque.
