SANTA FE — Students and families weighing where to go to college and what to study can now see how graduates fare in the workforce, after New Mexico joined the U.S. Census Bureau's Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) initiative.

New Mexico continues to strengthen its position as a national leader in education-to-employment alignment through this new partnership. The PSEO gives students, families and policymakers clear access to data that show how college certificates and degrees, by major and institution, shape long-term employment trajectories and earnings outcomes.

The PSEO provides detailed, privacy-protected information on earnings and employment for college graduates, data that help students, families and policymakers understand the return on different education pathways across institutions, majors, and states.

By joining the latest group of partner states, New Mexico expands its ability to support students in choosing degrees that lead to long-term economic security. The availability of clear, transparent outcomes data reinforces the state's ongoing work to increase access, affordability and alignment across higher education and workforce development.

"Our priority is ensuring every New Mexican has the tools they need to make informed decisions about their education and future," said Higher Education Secretary Stephanie M. Rodriguez. "Participating in the PSEO initiative gives students a clearer picture of the career outcomes tied to their fields of study, and it supports institutions in their mission to deliver high-quality programs that lead to family-sustaining wages right here at home."

Along with tuition-free college through the Opportunity Scholarship, the PSEO partnership is part of New Mexico's broader work to make higher education more affordable, transparent and responsive to the needs of students and employers.
