Firefighters respond to Hausner Wildfire – Zuni Mountains
Albuquerque, NM – June 8, 2026 — Fire resources are responding to suppress the Hausner Wildfire within Zuni Mountains on the Mt Taylor Ranger District.
Reported start date / time: June 8, 2026 / 1700
Cause: Lightning.
Size: Estimate 2 acres.
Location: In the area of Hausner Canyon southeast Zuni Mountains, 5 miles NW of Oso Ridge Lookout on Mt. Taylor Ranger District – New Mexico on the Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands.
Safety: The health and safety of firefighters and the public are always the first priority. Members of the public should avoid the fire area. Drones pose a serious risk to firefighting and can cause air operations to cease. The public is reminded that "If you fly, we can't!"
