The Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship at New Mexico State University's Arrowhead Center is supporting graduate students and recent graduates in applying to the Stanford Ecopreneurship Global Intensive, an eight-week summer program that connects founders with Stanford faculty, Silicon Valley investors, and a global community of sustainability entrepreneurs.

The program, known as EcoGlobal, is a partnership between Stanford's Doerr School of Sustainability and Stanford Graduate School of Business. Through its participation in the EcoGlobal university ecosystem, the Hunt Center is helping facilitate access for NMSU students to this highly competitive global program. Applications for NMSU participants close Monday, May 4, 2026.

EcoGlobal runs from June 22 through August 14, 2026, and requires selected participants to work full-time, at least 40 hours per week, on evaluating and developing their sustainability venture ideas. Programming includes more than 20 workshops led by Stanford faculty and lecturers, weekly innovation coaching from experienced founders and investors, local mentorship grounded in regional ecosystems, and a global community of graduate student founders.

Workshop topics include business modeling, customer discovery, techno-economic analysis, investor readiness and leadership, alongside practical tools such as the business model canvas and outreach strategies. Participants who complete the program as core team members receive a Certificate of Achievement from Stanford University.

The program culminates in a hybrid Capstone Demo Day on October 21, 2026, where teams present their ventures to Silicon Valley and international investors and receive feedback from the broader ecopreneurial ecosystem.

Carlos Murguia, director of the Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship, said connecting NMSU students to EcoGlobal reflects the Center's commitment to expanding access to world-class opportunities for founders in southern New Mexico and the Borderplex region.

"Connecting our students to programs like EcoGlobal gives them direct access to Stanford faculty, Silicon Valley investors, and a global cohort of peers working on environmental sustainability," Murguia said. "This type of exposure, combined with structured coaching and mentorship, helps founders move from early ideas to validated ventures."

Eligible applicants include graduate students currently enrolled at NMSU and recent graduates within six months of completing a graduate degree. Founders may apply individually or in teams of up to three, with additional team members contributing as appropriate. Ventures must focus on environmental sustainability, may be for-profit or nonprofit, and should demonstrate a clear understanding of the problem and customer need.

Selected participants are expected to commit to the full program, including attending workshops, engaging in weekly coaching, collaborating with mentors and peers, and presenting at the Capstone Demo Day. Workshops are held virtually on weekdays at 9 a.m. Pacific Time.

Application decisions will be announced on May 15, 2026, with accepted participants onboarded shortly after. The program begins with a virtual orientation on June 2, 2026, followed by a kickoff networking event on June 17, 2026.
