New Mexico State University faculty and staff will have an opportunity to explore educational pathways, professional development programs and career advancement resources during the upcoming "Invest in You within NMSU" event later this month.
Hosted by the NMSU Employee Council in partnership with multiple campus departments, the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 20, in the Aggie Lounge at Corbett Center Student Union on NMSU's main campus. A virtual session will follow Monday, March 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. via Zoom ( https://nmsu.zoom.us/j/83386909853 ).
The event is designed to help employees learn more about the educational and career development opportunities available across the university and address a gap in awareness about the many resources offered to support employee growth.
"While NMSU offers a variety of programs such as degree pathways, certifications, tuition benefits and professional training, many employees are not always aware of these resources or how to access them," said Alice Delgado, vice chair of the NMSU Employee Council and the NMSU Passport Acceptance agent. "This event brings those opportunities together in one place, making it easier for employees and their families to explore options, ask questions and connect directly with campus departments that support career advancement and personal growth."
Representatives from several campus units will share information about degree and certificate programs, continuing education opportunities, professional development training and employee support resources. Attendees can also learn about tuition assistanceprograms and academic advising services available to NMSU employees and their families.
Participating partners include Undergraduate Admissions, the Graduate School, Doña Ana Community College, NMSU Global, the Center for Learning and Professional Development, Benefits Services, Aggie One Stop, the Center for Academic Advising and Student Support, University Financial Aid and Scholarship Services, Aggie Health and Wellness, and Aggie Career Studios.
Delgado said the event may help employees considering returning to school or pursuing additional credentials better understand their options.
"For example, an employee who has been thinking about finishing a bachelor's degree might learn about tuition assistance programs, flexible course formats and degree completion options that fit their schedule," Delgado said. "They may also connect with academic advisers who can help map out a clear path to graduation."
Employees interested in leadership roles can also learn about professional development opportunities such as the Aggie Leadership Training Academy, which helps participants strengthen skills that support career advancement.
The event is open to all NMSU employees, as well as their children, spouses and domestic partners, allowing families to explore educational pathways available through the university. Options range from DACC's Adult Education Program to undergraduate, graduateand professional degree programs at NMSU.
Delgado said the event reflects the university's commitment to employee development and internal career mobility.
"By connecting employees with educational pathways, skill-building opportunities and career resources, NMSU demonstrates that employee growth and internal mobility are priorities," Delgado said.
Organizers hope attendees leave with a clearer understanding of the opportunities available and feel encouraged to take the next step toward their personal or professional goals.
Event success will be measured through attendance, participant engagement and feedback from employees and campus partners, as well as follow-up interest in programs highlighted during the event.
