NMSU named to Princeton Review’s Best Online Graduate Programs for 2026

New Mexico State University has been named to The Princeton Review's Best Online Graduate Programs for 2026 for both its Doctor of Education and Master of Science in Nursing programs, earning national recognition for excellence in online graduate education.

The annual list highlights programs that combine academic rigor with affordability, innovation and accessibility. NMSU's online Ed.D. program was recognized for offering doctoral-level training comparable to on-campus programs while meeting the needs of working professionals.

"The College of Health, Education, and Social Transformation continues to meet the needs of New Mexico through graduate programs that are flexible, affordable and innovative," said Rick Marlatt, dean of the College of Health, Education, and Social Transformation. "These programs are quite deserving of this recognition from the Princeton Review as they have created and sustained one of the most successful online education doctorates in the entire country."

Graduate programs within the college support workforce development, applied research and economic growth across the state, while expanding access to advanced education for professionals in education and health-related fields.

The MSN program prepares registered nurses for advanced roles as educators, managers and clinical leaders through flexible online pathways and specialized areas of study, including family nurse practitioner and nursing administration tracks.

"NMSU's MSN in Nursing Leadership & Administration prepares nurses to lead change across complex health care systems, with a strong focus on organizational leadership, quality improvement, and fiscal management," said Alexa Doig, director of the School of Nursing. "Our fully online format allows working nurses across New Mexico and beyond to advance their careers while immediately applying what they learn to improve patient care and the nursing practice environment."

Online graduate programs at NMSU continue to grow in rigor and demand, offering students greater flexibility, access to innovative technologies, and diverse professional networks – making online education an increasingly strategic choice for career advancement.
