DitchSpeare Announces 2026 Cast for Shakespeare in the Big Ditch

HallieElliza SILVER CITY, NM — TheActrix Studio is delighted to announce the cast for the 2026 season of DitchSpeare: Shakespeare in the Big Ditch, Silver City's beloved outdoor theatre tradition.

Each summer, performers and audiences gather along the Big Ditch to experience Shakespeare's timeless stories under the open sky. What began as a small community experiment has grown into a vibrant annual event celebrating creativity, collaboration, and the enduring power of live theatre.

This year's cast brings together a dynamic mix of returning DitchSpeare favorites and new voices joining the ensemble for the first time. Over the coming months, the company will explore themes of humor, humanity, and the strange beauty of being alive together in a small town that loves its theatre.

The 2026 Ensemble includes: Emma Eileen McKinley, Elliza Mollman, Grace Mumby, Rowan Badilla, Anthony Crusco, Chrissie Souders, and Iah Bullard. Additional local performers are being tapped to perform smaller pieces for preview performances at various venues, or as surprise cameos during the run in the Big Ditch Park.

Rehearsals begin this spring, with performances planned for May 15-24 in the Big Ditch Park.

TheActrix Studio founder and director Wendy Spurgeon says the spirit of DitchSpeare continues to grow with each season.

"Shakespeare wrote for the public square. His plays were meant to be shared by everyone, not tucked away in formal spaces. DitchSpeare carries that spirit forward here in Silver City. It's joyful, a little wild, and deeply communal."

Audiences can expect lively performances, inventive staging, and the unique magic that happens when classical theatre meets the natural beauty of the Big Ditch.
