(Silver City, NM) – The Gila Community Foundation has recently renewed a subscription to the premier grant searching database GrantStation, available at the Silver City Public Library to everyone seeking grants. Gila Community Foundation has offered this resource to area grant-seekers since 2023. There will be an informal workshop to learn how to use GrantStation at the library on Monday, May 18, 10:00-11:00am.

As described on their website grantstation.com, GrantStation offers organizations and agencies the opportunity to identify potential funding sources for their programs or projects as well as resources to mentor these organizations through the grantseeking process. The database serves all grantseekers: nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, religious organizations, and independent grant professionals. GrantStation databases include private foundations, corporate foundations, community foundations, and corporate contribution programs. A number of faith-based funders, association grant programs, and other grant programs are also included in the databases. In the United States, federal and state grants are also included. The databases provide the ability to search for grantmakers giving in a geographic area and areas of interest. Each grantmaker has a funder profile page to help the grantseeker decide if they should reach out to that grantmaker.

To access GrantStation, grantseekers must be in the library building. They can use a library computer, or use their own device on the library's wireless internet connection. Then grantseekers should use the internet address grantstation.com/library-login, or click the GrantStation link on the library's Digital Services page at www.silvercitypubliclibrary.org . Library staff members are available to assist.

To try out GrantStation with guidance, grantseekers are encouraged to attend an informal workshop on Monday, May 18, 10:00-11:00am at the library. Librarian Lillian Galloway will lead an exploration of the platform. During the tour, participants can suggest specific grant criteria to try searching, and the group can troubleshoot tricky searches together. Those interested in attending are asked to contact the library to sign up, if possible, so organizers have an idea of how many to expect. "At the Gila Community Foundation, we believe access to funding opportunities should never be a barrier to great ideas. By providing GrantStation through the Silver City Public Library, we are helping nonprofits, educators, and community leaders across our region build capacity, strengthen their programs, and bring more resources into Southwest New Mexico," said Jamie Sechrist, Gila Community Foundation executive director.

"We are grateful that the Gila Community Foundation has been able to provide this resource to our community for three years now," said Lillian Galloway, library assistant director. "This tool has just become more relevant to our community as time has passed."
