SANTA FE – House Republican Leader Gail Armstrong (R-Magdalena) released the following statement following yesterday's general election:
"Last night was disappointing for Republicans in New Mexico and across the country, but a loss at the ballot box is not a loss of purpose. I'm incredibly grateful to every candidate, volunteer, and supporter who knocked doors, made calls, and believed in making a difference. Your efforts mattered, and they still matter.
It's clear that voters sent a message to President Trump and to Congressional Republicans, and that message was felt all the way down the ballot here at home. We hear it, and we take it seriously.
But one election does not change who we are or who we work for. New Mexico House Republicans remain committed to fighting for every New Mexican, whether they voted for us or not. Democrats now hold a supermajority in the House, and with that power comes full ownership of the results. Our schools still rank near the bottom, crime is still too high, and families are still struggling with the cost of living after years of one-party rule. Our caucus will stand up to this supermajority, offer real alternatives, and hold Democrats accountable for their failures every step of the way.
We may be disappointed today, but we will not be discouraged. The fight for a better future is far from over. God bless New Mexico."
